Quiz Competition


The quiz competition (FINALS) was conducted on AUGUST 1st, 2009 at 10 A.M. in our college Auditorium. Four finalists(pairs) were selected from among 39 pairs who took part in a WRITTEN ROUND as a prerequisite for selection.

The four finalists were :

Elections are the way in which a group of people can choose one person to represent them or lead them. There are different forms in election. In the simplest form of election, the voters have a choice of candidates and voting takes place in secret. So that no one can be forced to vote for some one.


Student council election of our college was held on 7-7-2009. 12 candidates from II PUC and 9 candidates from I PUC contested for different posts. There were 450 votes.


The following students form the student council of 2009-2010.

The selection went on smoothly under the supervision of Sir Arun D’souza – Physical Director.

Inauguration of the monthy magazine 'Ujwala'

J.O.C.( Job oriented course) at St. Joseph’s has grown from strength to strength from a simple beginning in 1992. It has currently become one of the most relevant programmes offered at St. Joseph’s P.U College. As the J.O.C students have established themselves very well in different walks of life due to the support and training rendered to them at St. joseph’s I can proudly say that we have achieved the purpose which we had in mind.

It is a happy feeling to announce that J.O.C has produced 100% results for the past two years. Moreover our institution has been listed as one of the best Job Oriented Institutes in Karnataka .

In continuation of our support and encouragement to our students the J.O.C department has planned to publish a monthly newsletter ‘Ujwala’ which is a partial requirement of the course syllabus. I request students from Departments to support this newsletter by thir creative writings. As the Principal of St. Joseph’s P.U College I wish the staff and students of J.O.C department every success in their endeavours.

Essay Competition

The word ‘Essay’ literally means an attempt; it is a piece of competition in any subject, usually in prose. A good essay is an artistic competition and is the result of conscious effort to produce a unified, coherent, balanced, proportion and consistent piece of writing.

Essay competition for the year 2009-2010 was held on 18 July 2009 under the supervision of concerned language lecturers.
As many as 40 students participated for Kannada and 15 for English, from all section. The topic for English essay was –the necessity of discipline among the students; and the topic for Kannada was Vishwa janasankya Dina.

Singing competition 2009-10




Our culture immerses us in music for hours each day and everyone knows how it touches our emotions – Music is a communicative activity which conveys to the listener, moods, emotions, thoughts, impressions and political concepts or positions. In simple language music is enjoyable –its makes us “feel good’’.
Singing competition for the year 2009 -10 was held on 11th July 2009 in the college auditorium. The response from students was satisfactory. The audience enjoyed the melodious tunes.
